As a popular music city and home to Texas Tech University, Lubbock boasts a wide variety of cloud-pleasing venues and entertainment but continues to maintain its small-town charm. Whether it’s the fireworks and parade at MacKenzie Park or a live band in the courtyard at the Cotton Court Hotel, there’s always a way to live it up in Lubbock, Texas. And the best part: most of the best places are only minutes from Portofino! This list is long but some of our favorites include:
Walk Over to Elm Park / Dog Park
This beautiful, sprawling park is literally Portofino’s neighbor! It is a short walk across the street for Portofino residents and features a large, paved walking trail, open green space, and two gated dog parks. As what we consider a bonus amenity, Elm Park gives residents a nearby resource for recreation for the whole family! Visitors can get in some extra exercise, take in the fresh air and green space, and spend some extra time outdoors with furry friends. Needless to say, Elm Park is a wonderful place to have “next door”!
Explore Adventure Park
If you have little ones in Lubbock, Adventure Park is a must! From arcade games and wall climbing to bumper boats and go-carts, this is THE spot for family fun. Friday and Saturday nights also offer adults a little something with “Party on the Patio”, featuring live music from local artists, chips and salsa, and spirits in the courtyard. Adventure Park is only 7 minutes and a straight shot down 34th street from Portofino.
Hit Balls at 4ORE! Golf
Offering fun and entertainment for all ages, 4ORE! Golf is one of Lubbock’s busiest spots! This two-story driving range facility offers big fun and an even bigger menu of drinks, bar foods, and snacks—try the mini donuts! With a relaxing fire-pit courtyard and numerous private hitting bays, it’s a great place for family fun or date nights. As a Portofino resident, you’ve scored a real hole-in-one with 4ORE! Golf is just a 6-minute drive down Milwaukee.
Discover MacKenzie Park
Lubbock is known for its parks but MacKenzie Park is something special! As one of Lubbock’s largest parks, MacKenzie Park hosts many activities including a disk golf course, dog park, Prairie Dog Town, Meadowbrook Golf Course, an outdoor amphitheater, and numerous public picnic areas. It’s also home to Joyland Park, a local favorite for carnival rides, coasters, and games that are enjoyable all year round. MacKenzie Park is well worth the 15-minute drive from Portofino!
